ACLA has recently been nationally recognized by the Americans for Libraries Council as a Lifelong Access Libraries Center for Excellence and Innovation. Leading to that recognition are ACLA's many accomplishments in setting high standards for Lifelong Access programs and services, serving as laboratories for community-library partnerships and professional learning to benefit older adults and their communities.
- Initiation of a dedicated Older Adult Initiative launched in the Spring of 2001.
- Establishment of community partnerships with national and
local organizations for programming purposes. Partners provide programming,
marketing, cost sharing, networking, prestige, visibility and participation
in and support of ACLA events.
